What Does the Fee Cover?

There are many responsibilities and duties that are part of administrating an estate. Our fixed fee probate service covers all legal work, administration of the estate, property requirements and tax advice. All dealt with qualified and experienced solicitors.

A typical fixed fee probate service will include the following (as well as other necessary probate duties): -

  1. Research
  2. We research and list all the assets, property, savings and other investments of the deceased

  3. Properties
  4. If appropriate any property may be sold (requiring professional valuation) or transferred to the beneficiaries (if there is a will).

  5. Estate Accounts & Inheritance Tax
  6. We will prepare and finalise estate accounts. The accounts will show monies that have come in and out leaving the final sum left to the beneficiaries.

  7. Creditors and claimants
  8. Before distributing the estate we ensure that all debts are paid off and contact anyone who is entitled to claim on the estate.

We therefore advertise for creditors and claimants.

  9. Transfer Assets
  10. Once the grant of probate has been obtained we will contact all the deceased’s bank’s and/or building societies where they held an account and request that the assets are transferred to the executor’s bank account.

We will also need to request the transfer of shares and other investments.

  11. Distribute
  12. After notifying the beneficiaries and sending them a copy of the prepare estate accounts we will then distribute the estate in accordance to the will or in accordance with the rules of intestacy if no will was left.

  13. Records
  14. For at least 12 years you must keep the estate accounts (and supporting paperwork).
